Third seeded Italian team formed by Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori won the mixed doubles title at Roland Garros without dropping a set in four matches. Errani and Vavassori beat Evan King and Taylor Townsend 6-4 6-2 after 71 minutes.
Errani and Vavassori saved all four break points they faced and converted 3 of 11 break points. The Italian team won their mixed doubles Grand Slam title after beating Donald Young and Taylor Townend at the US Open.
Errani claimed her seventh Grand Slam title, five in the women’s doubles and two in the mixed doubles.
“Congrats to Evan and Taylor, it was some battle today against you. We had to study a lot. Thanks of course to Andrea, my best friend. It is so much fun to play with you. You are an amazing person, and it is special to be here with you. You had an incredible tournament”, said Errani.
